I don't know what your plans are, and what capabilities iTunes has, but in my situation it would be great if i was able to edit song information (title, artist, etc) and even be able to delete or add new songs to the library (from a local filesystem over the network to the TC-server).

It's definitely on the horizon. ;)
If you have a look at the Tunage API I wrote for TuneConnect (tunage.tuneconnect.net), you'll see that the server end of TuneConnect already supports playlist creation and track information modification. However, since this is generally outside the scope of an iTunes remote control application, I left this out for the 2.0 release in order to focus on more important features, and deliver a more polished application.
